فيليب الخامس ملك فرنسا (20 نوفمبر 1316 - 3 يناير 1322) حكم فرنسا ونافارا لأكثر من خمسة سنين , ليس له وريثا من الذكور عندما توفي حيث انتقل التاج لشقيقة الأصغر شارل الرابع . هو ابن فيليب الرابع وأخو لويس العاشر ويلقب بفيليب الطويل وقد تولى الوصاية على ابن أخيه جون الأول وبمجرد أن مات تم تتويجه ملكا لفرنسا ونافار ، ولكن شرعية فيليب قوبلت بتحدي من جانب جان ابنة لويس العاشر والتي أعلنت أحقيتها في العرش ، وقد نجح فيليب في إقناعها ولذلك لعدة أسباب منها أنها مازلت شابة وأيضا الشكوك حول بنوتها لأبيها لويس العاشر وأيضا اتهام امها مارجريت بالزنا وتورطها في قضية تور دي نسل Tour de Nesle وأن المرأة يجب أن تستبعد من خط الوراثة على العرش الفرنسى بحسب القانون السالي القديم.

Philip engineered a hasty coronation after the death of his nephew, the young John I, to build support for his bid for the French throne in 1316-17.

Philip took steps to reform the French currency during the course of his reign, including these silver Tournois coins.

 Resolution of the Flanders conflict and England

Philip pursued a successful diplomatic and dynastic solution to the long running tensions with Flanders.

وقد استعاد فيليب الخامس علاقات جيدة مع مقاطعة الفلاندر (بلجيكا حاليا) التي كانت قد دخلت في تمرد مفتوح منذ حكم والده فيليب الرابع ، ولكن علاقاته ساءت مع إدوارد الثاني ملك انجلترا والذي كان وقتها دوقا لجوين Guyenne حيث أنه رفض في البداية رفع التحية له .

 The Crusades

Pope John XXII, initially a close ally of Philip in the late crusading movement in Christian Europe, joined with him in condemning the violent Shepherds' Crusade in 1320.

وفي عام 1320 بدأت الحملة الصليبية الشعبية في نورماندي بهدف تحرير شبه الجزيرة الإيبيرية من المغاربة ، وبدلا من السير نحو نورماندي سار الشعب جنوبا مهاجما القلاع والمسئولين الملكيين والكهنة واليهود . كما شارك فيليب الخامس في عدة إصلاحات داخلية تهدف إلى تحسين إدارة المملكة ، وشملت هذه الإصلاحات إنشاء ديوان مستقل للمالية وتوحيد الأوزان والمقاييس وترسيخ عملة واحدة

 Family

In 1307 he was married to Joan II, Countess of Burgundy (daughter and heiress of Otto IV, count of Burgundy) and they had four daughters and one son:

1. Joan (1308–1349), Countess of Burgundy and Artois in her own right and wife of Odo IV, Duke of Burgundy
2. Margaret (1310–1382), wife of Louis I of Flanders. Countess of Burgundy and Artois in her own right.
3. Isabelle (c. 1312 – April 1348), wife of Guigues VIII de La Tour du Pin, Dauphin de Viennois.
4. Blanche (1311/12–1358), a nun.
5. Philip (1316-1317).
