رئيس وزراء المملكة المتحدة وأيرلندا الشمالية، هو القائد السياسي للمملكة المتحدة ورأس حكومة صاحبة الجلالة. وهو المسئول عن تعيين الأعضاء الآخرين في الحكومة، عقد جلسات مجلس الوزراء وتقرير ميعاد عقد الانتخابات الجديدة لمجلس العموم.[3][4] ورئيس الوزراء هو المسئول أيضا عن تقديم الترشيحات للمناصب العليا في كنيسة إنگلترة، وترشيح القضاة واقتراح منح لقب لورد مدى الحياة.[5]
