ماثيو فونتين موري Matthew Fontaine Maury ‏(14 يناير 1806 - 1 فبراير 1873)، ضابط في البحرية الأمريكية وعالم فلك أمريكي ومؤرخ واخصائي علم المحيطات ورسام خرائط وجيولوجي.

كان ماثيو موري رائدا في مجالي علم المحيطات وعلم وصف المياه. وأصبحت بعض مقالات موري وكتبه من أشهر المراجع في هذين الحقلين.

كان ماثيو موري أول من قام بدراسة شاملة نظامية للمحيط. عمله في علم المحيطات والملاحة أدى إلى انعقاد مؤتمر دولي (بروكسل، 1853) وكان الأول من نوعه في العالم. وفي 1855، أثناء حمى الذهب الغربية، ساعدت معلومات موري المحدّثة قباطنة البحار اختصار زمن السفر من نيويورك إلى سان فرانسسكو من 180 إلى 133 يوماً. في تلك السنة، أعد موري تقريراً أثبت الفائدة العملية - وضمن نجاح - أول كابل عبر الأطلسي بين الولايات المتحدة واوروبا، والذي يعتبر اول انجاز عظيم في حقل الاتصالات الدولية. وكان موري مدير مرصد البحرية الأمريكية من 1844 إلى 1861.
