إدجارد فاريز

إدگار ڤكتور أشيل شارل ڤاريز Edgard Victor Achille Charles Varèse (ولد 22 ديسمبر 1883 وتوفي 6 نوفمبر 1965) مؤلف موسيقي مجدد فرنسي المولد قضى معظم مشواره الفني في الولايات المتحدة.

كان الطموح الدافع لفاريز هو ايجاد اتجاهات جديدة راديكالية في الموسيقى. بعد الدراسة في كونسرفتوار باريس قضى وقت كبير في برلين يصادق بوزوني وديبوسي (الذي عرفه على اللامقامية لشونبرج. لكن في نيويورك كان رائد الاصوات الجديدة حيث خطى الحدود بين النظام والضجيج. Hyperprism اثارت غضب الجمهور لكنها مع مقطوعات مثل عمله الذي يضم الالات الايقاعية Ionisation رسخ مبداه الحديث. انتاجه كان غير مكتمل وعانى من الاكتئاب في 1930 حين تعرض لرفض تمويل ابحاثه لكن بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية تقدمه في فن الصوت الذي يعتمد على شريط التسجيل ثبت انه ثوري.

• Étude pour espace for soprano solo, chorus, 2 pianos and percussion (1947; orchestrated and arranged by Chou Wen-chung for wind instruments and percussion for spatialized live performance, 2009) (texts by Kenneth Patchen, José Juan Tablada and St. John of the Cross)
