جون شو بلنگز John Shaw Billings ‏(12 أبريل 1838 - 11 مارس 1913)، جراح وأمين مكتبة أمريكي، لعب تنظيمه للهيئات الطبية الأمريكية دوراً محورياً في تحديث الرعاية في المستشفيات وصيانة الرعاية الصحية. وأثناء الحرب الأهلية الأمريكية، في معركتي تشانسلرڤيل وگتيزبرگ، أجرى العديد من العمليات الجراحية وكان أول جراح في الحرب يحاول، بنجاح، استئصال مفصل الكاحل. وقد كان شغوفاً جداً بتقدم المعارف بخلق مكتبات، ومنها مكتبة نيويورك العامة، لجعل الكتب في متناول الجميع. كما كان لبلنگز أفكار في التصميم المعماري للمستشفيات. وقام بتصميم المستشفى الجديد لجامعة جونز هوپكنز في بلتيمور، بأنظمة تهوية عكست أفضل فهم في عصره للنظافة الصناعية.
