ولدت سترايساند في مدينة نيويورك. بدأت حياتها الفنية عام 1961 عندما اشتركت في مسابقة للمواهب في أحد نوادي نيويورك الليلية، فكسبت 50 دولار وارتباطا بنادي ليلي. ثم أخذت تظهر في مسارح شارع برودواي ومثلت في أستطيع أن أحضرها لكم جملة عام 1962 وأصبحت نجمة في العرض الموسيقي فتاة هزلية عام 1964. كان أول ظهور لها في السينما عام 1968 في فيلم فتاة هزلية وتحصلت على جائزة الأكاديمية لأحسن ممثلة لأدائها فيه.

Streisand has been nominated 43 times for a Grammy Award, winning eight. In addition, she has received two special non-competitive awards; the 1992 Grammy Legend Award and the 1994 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame four times. In 2011, she was honored as MusiCares Person of the Year by the Grammy Foundation for her artistic achievement in the music industry.

Film awards

Autobiography
Streisand has stated she is writing her autobiography but has stopped and started at various points.[2] In May 2015, Viking Press announced it had bought Streisand's memoirs, which will cover her entire life and career, and would publish it in 2017.[3]
