Eshtehard (فارسية: اشتهارد)[أ] is a city in the Central District of Eshtehard County, Alborz province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[3]

The majority of the people of Eshtehard belong to the Tat and Azerbaijani[4] ethnic group and they speak the Tati language and Azerbaijani.[5][6][7]

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 16,988 in 4,813 households, when it was in Eshtehard District of Karaj County, Tehran province.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 29,993 inhabitants in 9,357 households,[2] by which time the county had been separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[9] The district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Eshtehard County, and Eshtehard was transferred to the new Central District as capital of the county.[3]
