اللاجنسية Asexuality، هي نقص الانجذاب الجنسي وفي بعض الأحيان النقص في الاهتمام بالرغبة الجنسية. وأحياناً تعتبر انعدام وجود هوية جنسية وعدم وجود انجذاب جنسي نحو أي من الجنسين. وقد أجريت دراسة في 2004 عن أعداد الذين ليس لهم رغبة جنسية ووجد أن نسبة انتشار اللاجنسية في العالم هي 1%

تختلف اللاجنسية عن الامتناع الجنسي او التبتل ^{(بالإنجليزية)} في أن الاخيرتين سلوكيتان، والتبتل بالأخص يكون لأسباب دينية عادة.. أما اللاجنسية فبعكس السلوك تكون دائمة. بعض الذين ليس لهم رغبة جنسية يمارسون الجنس برغم عدم وجود الرغبة.

قام ألفريد كينسي في منتصف القرن العشرين بتصنيف الناس على سلم بأرقام من 1 الى 6 حسب الميول الجنسية من الغيرية الى المثلية، والمعروف بسلم كينسي. قام كينسي أيضاً بإضافة فئة X لمن ليس لهم علاقات أو تفاعلات جنسية اجتماعية. وقد صنف 1.5% من مجمل الرجال في العالم تحت فئة X. وفي كتاب كنزي الثاني «السلوك الجنسي لدى المرأة» ذكر أن السيدات اللاتي ينتمين الى الفئة X: في غير المتزوجات يمثلن من 14 الى 19%، ومن المتزوجات 1 الى 3%، والسيدات المتزوجات سابقاً كانت من 5 الى 8% والرجال غير المتزوجين من 3 الى 4% والرجال المتزوجون 0% والرجال المتزوجون سابقاً من 1 الى 2%.

 التسمية

Most traits in an average population can be described in terms of a bell curve. While the majority of people represent the average value for a given trait, a smaller number lie on either extreme. When describing the sex drive with such a curve, the majority of the population falls in the middle (as is true for any trait). Conversely, a small proportion will naturally represent either extreme - some, shown on the far right, are "hypersexual," while others, on the far left, are asexual.
