نظريات المؤامرة حول إنهيار مراقب لمركز التجارة العالمي يؤكدون أن إنهيار مركز التجارة العالمي لم يكن بسبب الضرر الحادث من إرتطام الطائرات التي وقعت كجزء من هجمات 11 سبتمبر 2001 ، والضرر الذى تلا من النار المضرمة في المبانى كانت بسبب مواد متفجرة تم تثبيتها في المباني مقدما.[1] أوائل المدعون مثل الفيزيائى ستيفن إى جونز، المهندس المعماري ريتشارد جيج، ومهندس البرمجيات جيم هوفمان و اللاهوتي ديفيد راي غريفين، يقولون إن التأثيرات الناتجة من إرتطام الطائرات و الحرائق المندلعة لن تكون قادرة على إضعاف المبانى بما فيه الكفاية لبدء عملية الهدم الكبرى الإنهيار الكارثي ، وأن المبانى لن يتسنى لها ذلك الإنهيار التام كما حدث ولا بالسرعة المذهلة التى تمت بها ، دون طاقة إضافية لإضعاف تماسكها الهيكلى .[بحاجة لمصدر]

المعهد الوطني للمعايير والتكنولوجيا (نيست) ومجلة الميكانيكا الشعبية درست ورفضت هذه النظريات. وقد قبل المتخصصين في الميكانيكا الهيكلية و الهندسة الإنشائية قبلوا نموذج الانهيار بفعل الجاذبية الذى منشأه النيران لمباني مركز التجارة العالمي،وهو التفسير التي لا ينطوي على استخدام المتفجرات.[2][3][4] لم تختبر (نيست) بقايا المتفجرات في عينات مجمع الصلب، مشيرة إلى احتمال تحقيق نتائج غير حاسمة، ومشيرة أيضا إلى أن مركبات مماثلة كان يحتمل كونها وجدت أثناء بناء الأبراج.[5]

Internet websites and videos have contributed to the growth of the movement of individuals supporting the theory that planted explosives destroyed the World Trade Center. The website of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth cites the membership of over 1,500 architects and engineers.[29] The controlled demolition theory often includes allegations that U.S. government insiders planned and / or participated in the destruction of the WTC in order to justify the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.[30] The theory features prominently in popular entertainment type movies, such as Loose Change,[31] as well as more documentary type films, such as 9/11: Blueprint for Truth, by San Francisco-area architect Richard Gage.[32]

While mainstream press has a significant history of derogatory labels, descriptions and interpretations of demolition theory advocates (i.e., in 2006, the magazine New York reported that a "new generation of conspiracy theorists is at work on a secret history of New York’s most terrible day."[33]), the theory has been supported by a number of popular actors, musicians and politicians, including Charlie Sheen,[34][35] Willie Nelson,[36] former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura,[37] talkshow host Rosie O'Donnell,[38] and actors Ed Asner and Daniel Sunjata.
