قنصلية

القنصلية consul، هي تمثيل رسمي لحكومة إحدى الدول في أراضي دولة أخرى، وتعمل على مساعدة وحماية مواطني البلد صاحبة السفارة، وعلى تسهيل التجارة والصداقة بين شعبي البلدين. تختلف القنصلية عن السفارة، حيث تعتبر الأخيرة تمثيل من رأس الدولة إلى رأس الدولة الأخرى. قد توجد لكل بلد سفارة واحدة، ممثلة لرأس الدولة، والمهام المضلع بها فيما يخص العلاقات الدبلوماسية بين البلدين؛ إلا أنه يمكن أن يكون هناك عدة قنصليات، واحدة في كل مدينة رئيسية، لتوفير المساعدة في حل القضايا البيروقراطية لمواطنيها المسافرين-أو-المقيمين في الخارج أو لموطني القنصلية المقيمين والراغبين في السفر أو التجارة مع البلد الواقعة فيها القنصلية.
