جون أيتكن John Aitken (و.1839-1919)، خبير أرصاد اسكتلندي، وأحد مؤسسي فيزياء السحاب وعلم الرذاذ. اكتشف أن بخار الماء في الجو لا يتكثف لتكوين السحب إلا في وجود الغبار. وأحصى جسيمات الغبار في هواء مشبع عن طريق التمديد الخفيف للهواء. كما قام بتكثيف بخار الماء على جسيمات الغبار، حيث يمكن ملاحظة نقاط الماء المتكونة وإحصاؤها. عدّل تشارلز ولسون جهاز آيتكن، وصمم ما أسماه بغرفة السحاب. وتظهر في هذه الغرفة مسارات الجسيمات المشحونة والمتحركة.
ولد أيتكن في فولكيرك في الإقليم الأوسط.
