شركة الاتحاد للطيران Etihad Airways هي الناقل الوطني وثاني أكبر شركة طيران في الإمارات العربية المتحدة (بعد الإمارات للطيران). ومقرها الرئيسي في مدينة خليفة، أبوظبي، بالقرب من مطار أبوطبي الدولي (OMAA - إيكاو). وقد بدأت الاتحاد أعمالها في نوفمبر 2003.[4]

تشغـِّل شركة الطيران أكثر من 1,000 رحلة أسبوعياً إلى أكثر من 120 وجهة للركاب والبضائع في الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا وأوروبا وآسيا وأستراليا والأمريكتين، بأسطول مكون من 119 طائرة إيرباص وبوينگ في أغسطس 2015. وفي 2012، نقلت الإتحاد 10.3 مليون راكب، بزيادة 23% عن العام السابق،[5] لتجلب إيراداً قدره 4.8 مليار دولار أمريكي وصافي ربح 42 مليون دولار.[6] الاتحاد للطيران هي ثالث أكبر خطوط جوية في الشرق الأوسط. قاعدتها الرئيسية هي مطار أبوظبي الدولي.[7]

وبالاضافة لنشاطها الرئيسي لنقل الركاب، تشغـِّل الاتحاد أيضاً الاتحاد للعطلات والاتحاد للشحن.[4] أسست الاتحاد تحالف شركات طيران خاص بها، Etihad Airways Partners، في 2015،[8] الذي يضم أليطاليا، جت إيروايز، إير برلين، نيكي، إير صربيا، إير سيشل وEtihad Regional. Almost every participant airline has a considerable stake of the airline owned by Etihad. Booking for these airlines is consolidated under one network. With the exception of Niki, Etihad Airways holds minority equity investments in the participating airlines along with Virgin Australia which is not officially listed as Etihad Airways Partners.

التاريخ

يرجع تاريخ تأسيس شركة الاتحاد للطيران إلى يوليو 2003، لتكون الناقل الرسمي لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وذلك بموجب مرسوم أميري صادر عن الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان (ولي عهد أبوظبي آنذاك)، تأسست طيران الاتحاد برأس مال يبلغ 500 مليون درهم إماراتي، وتولى مجلس إدارتها الشيخ أحمد بن سيف آل نهيان، وانطلقت أول رحلة جوية تجريبية للشركة في 5 نوفمبر 2003 وكانت رحلة قصيرة إلى مدينة العين بإمارة أبوظبي، ثم بدأت بعد ذلك التشغيل الفعلي للشركة بإقلاع أول رحلة تجارية باتجاه العاصمة اللبنانية بيروت في 12 نوفمبر من نفس العام.

بعد انطلاق الرحلة الأولى توسعت وزادت وجهات الاتحاد للطيران، فتم افتتاح وجهة كل شهر[9]، وفي يونيو 2004 افتتحت الاتحاد للطيران أول وجهة لها في أوروبا برحلة إلى العاصمة السويسرية جنيف، وعقدت الشركة في نفس العام صفقتين لشراء طائرات مع شركتي بوينغ وإيرباص، وقدرت الصفقتي بحوالي 8 مليار دولار أمريكي[9]، وقامت الشركة في أكتوبر 2005 بفتح وجهتين جديدتين إلى بروكسل وتورنتو، وفي نفس العام أفتتحت وجهة أفريقية جديدة وهي جوهانسبرج، واستمرت الشركة في افتتاح وجهات جديدة حتى بلغت في يونيو 2009 إلى 55 وجهة.

Etihad Guest is the airline's frequent flyer program, launched on 30 August 2006. It offers a discount web shop for loyalty program members.

الحوادث

  • 15 November 2007 – a new A340-600 due to delivery to Etihad Airways was damaged beyond repair during ground testing at Airbus' facilities at Toulouse Blagnac International Airport. During a pre-delivery engine test, multiple safety checks had been disabled, leading to the non-chocked aircraft accelerating to 31 knots (57 km/h) and colliding with a concrete blast deflection wall. Severe damage was inflicted on the aircraft and nine people on board were injured, four of them seriously. The right wing, tail, and left engines made contact with the ground or wall, leaving the forward section of the aircraft elevated several meters and the cockpit broken off. The aircraft was written off and was later used at Virgin Atlantic's cabin crew training facility in Crawley.
