إسرائيل شاحاك
إسرائيل شاحاك (بالعبرية: ישראל שחק; و. 28 أبريل 1933 - 2 يوليو 2001)، هو إسرائيلي-پولندي، ناجي من الهولكوست، وأستاذ الكيمياء في الجامعة العبرية في القدس. اشتهر كليبرالي[1] مفكر سياسي، مؤلف، ناشط حقوق مدنية. ما بين 1970 و1990، كان رئيس الاتحاد الإسرائيلي لحقوق الإنسان وكان ناقد صريح للحكومة الإسرائيلية. أثارته كاتباته عن اليهودية جدل واسع النطاق.
حتى وفاته في 2 تموز 2001، في القدس، إنصب البروفسور شاحاك، بمثابرة وتصميم لا متناهيين، على ترجمة مقتطفات من الصحف الإسرائيلية العبرية إلى الإنجليزية وتعميم هذه الترجمات في الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا، قناعة منه بضرورة إطلاع الرأي العام الغربي والنخب الثقافية والسياسية على طبيعة الصهيونية، فكرا وممارسة. وفي بدايات هذه المرحلة، استعان بروفسور شاحاك ببعض طلابه العرب في الحركة الوطنية في الجامعة العبرية بترجمة بعض المختارات من المصار الصهيونية إلى العربية. عمل بإستمرار وبصلابة، وبدون دعم مادي من أي طرف—ما عدا تبرعات صغيرة شخصية—في تنفيذ مشروعه بتعرية حقيقة الصهيونية والفكر الإستعماري والديني الذي يدفعها.
