Saher Abdullah is active in filming the events and diaries of the peaceful demonstrations in Tahrir Square in Baghdad and publishing them on his personal pages on the social networking sites and on his YouTube channel, especially the excessive government violence against demonstrators are peaceful, and the arson and attacks on public and private facilities carried out by government forces in order to attach them to the demonstrators and make them look like vandals. After the renewed anti-government popular protests in Baghdad and the cities of southern Iraq, rejecting the existing political system, corruption and theft and waste of public money, the government forces met the demonstrations with lethal force; Which caused the killing of more than 500 peaceful demonstrators at the hands of government forces.

Although the family of Saher Abdullah al-Sabawi has not received any information about who is responsible for his kidnapping, they believe that he was arrested by riot police who control the barrier blocking the bridge. On November 22 2019, his family filed a complaint at the Zafaraniyah police station in Baghdad and also launched an appeal through the media to urge the local authorities to release him, but to no avail. Saher was released eight days after his arrest, after the intervention of the United Nations Committee on Cases of Enforced Disappearances following an urgent complaint filed by the same committee by the two organizations Alkarama and Ikram Center for Human Rights.
