پيير تشارلز لانفان Pierre Charles L'Enfant (و.1754 –ت. 1825م) . مهندس ومعماري فرنسي، أصبح أول مخطط مدن حديثة في الولايات المتحدة. تم تكليفه عام 1791م بإعداد تصميم للعاصمة الأمريكية الجديدة في مقاطعة كولومبيا. وقد وضع مخططه تصورًا لمدينة من المتنزهات والمباني العامة والشوارع الواسعة المتشعبة. وأدى مزاجه الحاد العنيد إلى خلاف مع الرئيس جورج واشنطون. وفُصل لانفان من منصبه مهندسا مسؤولا عام 1792م. غير أن تصميمه شكَّل الأساس لإنشاء مدينة واشنطن.

ولد لانفان وتعلم في باريس وجاء إلى أمريكا عام 1777م وعمل ضابطا ومهندسا في الثورة الأمريكية. وقد صمم القاعة الاتحادية في مدينة نيويورك. وقضى لانفان السنوات الأخيرة من حياته يحاول الحصول على تعويض أكبر مقابل عمله في واشنطن العاصمة.
