وليام وذرنگ William Withering (عاش 17 مارس 1741 – 9 أكتوبر 1799) ، عالم نبات إنگليزي، جيولوجي، كيميائي، فيزيائي . ومكتشف نبات ديجيتالس . في عام 1785، استعمله لمعالجة أمراض قلبية معينة.

وليام وذرنگ طبيب إنجليزي، قام بدراسة كلاسيكية للاستخدام الطبي لنبات الديجيتاليس. ومن اهتمامه بعلم النبات، أولى اهتماماً بالعلاجات الشعبية التي يستعملها جامعو الأعشاب، بما فيها foxglove. وقد كان مستخلص أوراق النبات فعالاً في حالات معينة من "dropsy" (oedema, الناتجة عن فشل القلب). وقد حدد الجرعات الآمنة للاستخدام، ونشر تقريراً عن اكتشافاته المتعلقة بالنبات Foxglove (1785). وقد أعطى تقريره تواريخ جيدة لحالات مرضية، بما فيها حالات فشل فيها العلاج، وأخر نجح فيها. وبذلك فقد أضاف الديجيتاليس، كدواء فعال جداً، لجعبة الأطباء ليستخدموه لاعادة انتظام وتقوية عمل القلب. كما كان أيضاً عالم معادن، وقد سُمِي وذريت witherite (كربونات الباريوم) على اسمه. وقد عانى بشدة لسنوات من داء الصدر، الذي يُحتمل أنه كان السل.
