مجموعة ومتحف البرديات في ڤيينا في المكتبة الوطنية النمساوية هي واحدة من أهم المجموعات من نوعها في العالم. Its premises are in the Neue Burg in Vienna , and it includes around 180,000 objects from around 3000 years of Egyptian history (c. 1500 BC–1500 AD). A papyrus museum is attached to the collection, which, in addition to a permanent exhibition on Egyptian cultures, also has special exhibitions on special papyrology topics at regular intervalsindicates. The collection also has an extensive papyrological library with around 19,500 works. The collection has the task of preserving and restoring the papyri, as well as the scientific research and publication of this important source for ancient and medieval history.

In 2001, the papyrus collection Archduke Rainer (1st Fayyumer Fund) , the core of the collection, was included in the world register Memory of the World of UNESCO (World Document Heritage).

The main focus of the collection are the Arabic , Greek and Coptic objects. The Greek collection is the largest, with the Byzantine era of Egypt being the most prominent. Most of the charters consist of documents, but there are also literary pieces of great importance among them. The Arabic collection is the largest relevant closed collection in the world. Here, too, the documents make up the majority of the collection, many pieces are already written on paper , which from the 9th century used papyrus as writing materialrepressed. The importance of the Coptic inventory lies primarily in its literary, biblical and liturgical writings. The specialist library contains around 19,500 volumes.
