ماترهورن ((بالألمانية: Matterhorn)، (بالإيطالية: Cervino) أو (بالفرنسية: Cervin)) واحدة من أشهر قمم جبال الأبناين بسلسلة جبال الألب. يبلغ ارتفاعها 4,478م عند الحدود الفاصلة لفاليس في سويسرا ومنطقة بيدمونت الإيطالية، وتقع على مسافة 65 كم شرقي مون پلان. ترتفع قمة ماترهورن كأنها هرم بالنسبة للجبال المحيطة بها، ودائمًا ما تغطي الثلوج منحدراتها العليا. وقد تسلق كثير من محترفي تسلق الجبال جوانبها الشاهقة الحادة الانحدار. وكان أول من قام بهذا التسلق الخطر لقمة ماترهورن الإنجليزي إدوارد ويمبر عام 1865م.

التشكل

Different layers of rock can be seen: the lower part is sedimentary rocks (yellow); the middle part is greenschists from the oceanic crust. The peak itself (above the seracs) is gneisses from the African continent.
