استخدم {{ألان گرانت|state=collapsed}} لتظهر هذا القالب في حالته المطوية (المخفية).
استخدم {{ألان گرانت|state=expanded}} لتظهر هذا القالب في حالته الممدودة (رؤية كاملة).
استخدم {{ألان گرانت|state=autocollapse}} لتظهر هذا القالب في حالته المطوية (المخفية) إذا وجد قالب آخر من نفس النوع في الصفحة.

This template, since it only covers either comics titles or storylines, will automatically add the article to Category:Comics by Alan Grant (writer), sorted by article name. The sort can be changed by adding " |<name to be sorted on> ".

Example: {{Alan Grant|Last American, The}} would sort to "L" not "T".

The parameter: |type = can be added to the template. Active settings include "character", "script" and "work". The first of these will place the article into Category:Characters created by Alan Grant (writer), and the others will place the article into Category:Works by Alan Grant (writer), instead of the default comics category.

Please note that with normal placement of the navigation template, the category will precede "manually" added categories. Care should be taken.
