صقل (تشغيل معادن)

آلات الصقل . تشتمل آلات الصقل، كالتي تظهر في الصَّورة أعلاه، على حزام حك لتلميع المجوهرات والأدوات الفضية وأدوات أخرى.

الصَّقل Polishing عملية صناعيَّة تستخدم المادة الحاكة لتنعيم الأَسطح.

يتم الصَّقل عادة باستعمال عجلات مصنوعة من القماش أو اللباد أو الجلد مغطاة بمواد حاكة دقيقة، مثل مسحوق كربيد السليكون الناعم أو أكسيد الألومنيوم. تستعمل للصقل الدقيق جدًا مواد مغطاة بمسحوق صقل المجوهرات أو مسحوق ناعم من أكسيد الحديديك، أو بمسحوق التريبولي وهو نوع من السليكا.

يُستخدم الصُّناع أحزمة الجلخ في بعض أنواع الصقل. كما يمكنهم كذلك استخدام عجلات صقل خاصة مصنوعة من المطاط اللِّين المعجون بحبيبات الكاشط أو المطاط الذي يحتوي بداخله (في بنائه أو قالبه) حبيبات المادة الحاكة، ويتم تآكل المطاط ببطء شديد، فلايؤدي ذلك إلى إعاقة أدائه لوظيفته أو تحويل سطحه إلى سطح أملس صقيل، فينزلق على سطح الأَداة المراد صقلها. ويتم عمل معظم الصقل أو التلميع للقطع ذات الأَشكال غير المنتظمة يدوياً، أما في العمليات الكبيرة مثل إنجاز رقائق الفولاذ المقاوم للصدأ، فَيَسْتَخدم الصناع آلات صقل كبيرة ذات سرعات عالية.

أكسيد الألومنيوم abrasives are used on high tensile strength metals, such as carbon and alloy steel, tough iron, and nonferrous alloys. Silicon carbide abrasives are used on hard and brittle substances, such as grey iron and cemented carbide, and low tensile strength metals, such as brass, aluminium, and copper.

BLACK = Emery Compound, a coarse abrasive material for removal of scratches, pits, paint, rust etc.

BROWN = Tripoli compound used for general purpose cut and color on most soft metals.

WHITE = Blizzard compound, used for color and final finish of harder metals, has a cutting action.

RED = Jeweller’s Rouge, designed to polish without any cutting action. Safe on thin plates. Use on its own wheel.

BLUE = A dryer, almost greaseless wheel - designed to polish without any cutting action. Safe on thin plates. Use on its own wheel.

GREEN = Used exclusively for Stainless Steel.
