رأس الثعبان أو بيتا التنين بالإنكليزية Beta Draconis اسمه التقليدي Rastaban مشتق من الاسم العربي. هو نجم في كوكبة التنين .

يبعد عن الشمس 360 سنة ضوئية و يملك قدر ظاهري 2.79،[2] وهو ساطع بما فيه الكفاية ليكون سهل الرؤية بالعين المجردة. وبناء على قياسات parallax من ساتل Hipparcos للقياسات الفلكية،[10][11] فإنه يقع على مسافة تناهز 380 light-years (120 parsecs) من الشمس.[1]

وهو ينتمي إلى الفئة الطيفية G2.[12] وهو نجم ثنائي ويتألف عملاق عظيم يدور حوله قزم أبيض.[5][7]
