Official campaign posters in the Val-de-Marne's 5th constituency. (One of the posters has been partly torn off, a frequent occurrence.)

Example of campaign material received by post, from two leading parties on opposite sides of the political spectrum, in the Val-de-Marne's 5th constituency.
^As in 2007, the UMP passed a nationwide agreement with Nouveau Centre. But this time, most agreements are local and made with independants, centrists and other leftovers from the UDF, which split in 2007. Moreover, any UMP candidate who'd ally with the National Front faces a ban.
^As in previous elections, the French Socialist Party passed a national agreement with Les Verts (4 MPs) and the Parti radical de gauche (7 MPs), two smaller parties who also hold ministries. On the one hand, in key constituencies, Socialists support a Radical or Green candidate and send none of their own. On the other, in tough constituencies they send a unique candidate to secure a run-off entry. There is a similar, but separate, agreement with another small party, the Citizen and Republican Movement (MRC). According to Libération's 7 March 2012 edition, this agreement attributes 9 electoral districts to the MRC, including 4 or 6 "winnable seats", plus 6 substitute candidates.
