English: This image shows a wire marker attached to a lightning protection wire on a high-voltage power transmission line. Birds, who have eyes horizontally next to each other, have difficulty estimating the distance to featureless horizontal lines like these wires. These spirals make this easier, preventing collisions between birds and wires. This example is where the Druten–Nijmegen transmission line crosses the Deestersteeg in Deest, Gelderland, Netherlands.
