English: Front page of a manuscript of the Suwa Daimyōjin Ekotoba (諏方大明神画詞) known as the Gon-hōri-bon (権祝本). This copy was transcribed in 1472 by a monk named Sōjun (宗詢), who in turn was transcribing a two-volume handwritten copy of the text made by a monk of Shicchi-in Temple in Mount Kōya, Jōen (盛円). The original work, a twelve-volume illustrated scroll (emaki), was commissioned by Suwa Enchū and completed in 1356. The original scrolls have subsequently been lost; the text (without the illustrations) however were preserved in various manuscripts such as this one.

The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain, and that claims to the contrary represent an assault on the very concept of a public domain". For details, see Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
