English: Adjutant General Thomas Henry Somerset Conway (? - 14 May 1837) St Mary's Church, Chennai.
Brigadier-General Thomas Henry Somerset Conway, C.B., joined the Army in 1793, and served in numerous campaigns. When on his way to take command of the Hyderabad Subsidiary Force, he was seized with cholera and died at Nakarikallu near Guntoor in the Kistna district. His epitaph there gives his ago as 58. Conway is called the " Soldier's Friend " because he was the first to build them permanent barracks. His daughter Anne married Lieutenant-Colonel M. Poole and died at Vizianagaram in 1851. His wife Anne Jemima died at Madras 27 June 1834. Cathedral Cemetery. For a sketch of his services see Asiatic Journal, May 1818.
