وصف قصير

⧼wm-license-information-description⧽
English: Royal Albion Hotel Built in 1826 on the site of Russell House, the original home of Dr Richard Russell whose book on sea bathing as a medicinal cure assisted in the 18th century growth of what was a small, poor fishing village into a fashionable resort patronised by royalty. As such the hotel was built to cater for the fashionable and was constructed looking northwards onto the Old Steine, the road to the south was not built until 1829. The eastern side is the original building, the central side was built a few years later to cater for the increasing popularity of the hotel which became royal in 1847. The building covered in scaffolding is the western wing but was originally a separate building known as Lion Mansion Hotel built in 1856 on the site of a former baths, it was absorbed by the Royal Albion in 1963. The last building on the right is a former car showroom now converted into offices.
