Vexillological note: This flage is not the oficial one (girony of black and yellow, ranking town) but that used by Viana do Castelo Town Council (quarterly black and yellow, ranking village; although Viana is a city since 1848, the Town Council is proud of its ancient status of one of the 40 most ancient villages in Portugal).
