Two loaves of pain de mie. The loaf at right was baked in a star-shaped pan. Pain de mie is a type of sliced, packaged bread. "Pain" in French means "bread" or "loaf of bread" and "mie" means "crumb." The taste is somewhat sweeter than typical French bread, but not as sweet as typical American sliced white sandwich bread. |
