This picture doesn't do the lukla airport runway justice. immediately behind me is a mountain. the runway is perhaps 500m long, and there's a cliff in front of it. the runway is cleverly angled so that landing planes bleed off speed and departing planes gain speed from the slope. the landing is intense: the plane's nose is angled downward
