⧼wm-license-information-description⧽Anorthite-rare08-38b.jpg	English: Anorthite Locality: Somma-Vesuvius Complex, Naples Province, Campania, Italy (Locality at mindat.org) Size: small cabinet, 6.9 x 4.1 x 3.8 cm Anorthite Among the least common of the plagiclase feldspar family, this specimen of anorthite is significant because it is from the TYPE LOCALITY and has isolated sharp crystals nestled in basaltic vugs. The anorthite crystals are surprisingly lustrous, somewhat translucent and white - they look more like phenacite than anything else. Elongated, textbook-like crystals reach 1.0 cm in length and form a super color contrast with the host black basalt. This specimen is from the type locality for anorthite.
