التشكل بالبثق هو عملية صناعية تستخدم لعمل الأنابيب, والخراطيم, مصاصات الشرب, الخيوط.

وتشبه ماكينة البثق (مفرمة اللحوم). حيث يقوم محرك بتدوير عامود يشبه الموجود بمفرمة اللحوم, ويغذي حبيبات اللدائن لمنطقة تسخين. ثم تعمل الحرارة على إذابة هذه الحبيبات ويتم دفع هذا السائل خلال ثقوب معينة حسب الإستخدام., وينتج من هذا ما يشبه 'الأنبوبة'. ويتم تبريد هذا المصهور بعد ذلك.

ويمكن لمقاطع هذه الثقوب أن تكون على أشكال عديدة مثل مقطع T, مقطع U, مقطع I, مقاطع مربعة وإسطوانية.

المواد شائعة البثق تتضمن الفلزات, بوليمرات, الخزف, والمواد الغذائية.

يـُستخدم بثق الفلزات في الصناعة لأغراض عديدة منها:

• Copper pipe for plumbing
• Aluminium extrusion profiles for tracks, frames, rails, mullions, and extrusion-type heat sinking devices
• Steel rods or track
• Titanium aircraft components including seat tracks, engine rings, and other structural parts

Steel and titanium extrusions use glass powder as a lubricant. Invented in فرنسا in 1935 by Mr. Séjournet, this process was patented throughout the world and helped launch industrial steel extrusion, and was later applied to titanium where it was more effective.^{[بحاجة لمصدر]}

Plastic extrusion commonly uses plastic chips or pellets, which are usually dried in a hopper before going to the feed screw.

 Catalysis

Extrusion is also a very important unit operation in shaping a catalyst. The shape of a catalyst is directly related to its working conditions. A high specific surface can be obtained by extrusion.
