English: HURTT, Rob (R) 34th District. Elected Senate Republican Leader in August 1995. Elected to the Senate in 1993 (Special Election) and again in 1994 to a full four-year term. Represents the Orange County communities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Buena Park, Midway City, Stanton, Westminister and small portions of Fountain Valley and La Palma.
A businessman, Senator Hurtt owns and operates a successful manufacturing company, Container Supply Company, in Orange County. He has been president of the company for over 20 years and currently employs more than 200 people. A native Californian born in Santa Monica on May 19, 1944, he has resided in Orange County since 1966. Senator Hurtt is married and he and his wife, Nancy, have four children and two grandchildren. He graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 1966 with a degree in Economics. Current legislative priorities are: reducing job-killing business regulation; eliminating wasteful government spending; expanding commitment to public safety; improving education; and reforming tax policies. |
