English: Richard W. Richards (b 1863 - d 1920) Alderman for Cook Ward, 1 December 1902 to 25 November 1905 and 2 December 1912 to 30 November 1915; for Lang Ward, 23 May 1917 to 12 March 1920. Before his election as alderman, he had been a Council officer since 1879. He was the City Surveyor for thirteen years between 1887 and 1901. Richards was Lord Mayor in 1914- 1915 and 1919-1920. Member of the Works Committee in 1903 and 1917; and the Staff and Labour Committee and the Parks and Recreations Committee in 1903; the Finance Committee in 1904-1905 and 1913; the Health and By-Laws Committee in 1904 and 1917; and the Electric Lighting Committee in 1913 and 1918. Richards was knighted in 1920. He was born on 19 July 1863 and died on 12 March 1920.
