The passport was issued to Russians, and later on to other refugees who were unable to get ordinary passports. The Nansen Passport was issued on the initiative of F. Nansen in 1922, and was honored by the governments in 52 countries.
Deutsch: Ein in Frankreich ausgestelltes Probeexemplar des Nansenpasses. Das war eine Legitimation für Russen und später andere Flüchtlinge, die keinen gewöhnlichen Pass bekommen konnten. Der Nansenpass wurde auf Fridtjof Nansens Initiative 1922 ausgestellt und von 52 Staatsregierungen anerkannt.
