This image was selected as a picture of the day on 18 January 2008 on the French wikipedia. It was captioned as followed: La cathédrale évangélique-luthérienne d'Helsinki en Finlande. De style néoclassique, elle fut construite entre 1830 et 1852 sur la place du Sénat, en l’honneur du tsar Nicolas Ier de Russie, à qui elle dut son nom initial d'église Saint-Nicolas avant l’indépendance du pays en 1917. |
