English: Spirit of eMakhosini Monument at eMakhosini (i.e. Place of the (Zulu) Kings) in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The "Spirit of the Place of the (Zulu) Kings" monument was erected in 2003 on Khumba hill, which allows vistas of the surrounding countryside. A large bronze beer pot or imbiza, symbolic of friendship, forms the center piece. Small friezes that adorn the base of the circular pedestal, depict scenes from the lives of the Zulu kings. Seven large animal horns represent seven Zulu kings whose graves are in the vicinity. |
