After changing trains at Villars-sur-Ollon, I covered the final 5Kms to Col-de-Bretaye in bright sunshine. Being at the height of the skiing season, trains run every 20 minutes from Villars and at busy times a queuing system is in place at both ends of the line. Still sporting BVB livery, seen here is BDeh 4/8 no.83 "Bex" having arrived i on train 828, 11:00 Villars-sur-Ollon to Col-de-Bretaye. Note the wagon which is used to transport supplies to hotels, restaurants etc. on the route up and summit as there is no road access. |
